St. Mary's Child Center Group Visit
Two groups from St. Mary's Child Center visited the Leaning Curve this past Tuesday. The preschoolers have been talking about photography in their classrooms and continued their exploration of the topic during their group visit. The boys and girls played a cropping game, practiced cropping on their own, and listened to the story Knuffle Bunny Too. After the story, they hopped on the laptop computers to create pictures of their own inspired by Mo Willems' illustrations in the story. Here are some of those products.

School Visit: Lowell Elementary (Day Two)
On March 11th, students from Lowell Elementary visited the Learning Curve. The students used a database, the Biography Resource Center, to research famous Hoosiers. In addition, they also learned the basics of 2-D animation using Pivot Stickfigure Animator.
Below, check out the very first episode of Library Lab featuring material from Lowell Elementary's Every Class a Podcast research activity. The students had a lot of fun learning about some well-known (and not-so-well-known) Hoosiers.

Collaboration: Center for Inquiry, Butler, Second Story, and the Learning Curve
The Fall 2009 semester saw a neat partnership in the Learning Curve. Students from Butler University, in collaboration with local creative writing organization Second Story, and kids from local middle school Center for Inquiry/IPS #302 all met in the Learning Curve over several weeks to work on original compositions. At the end of the sessions, prior to a live reading at Butler, several students recorded audio of their own work. Check it out below!
